The Shape of Oil

Sadquain´s work, a young emerging artist from Faislabad/ Pakistan is presented in this exhibition about oil and its impact.

“My work revolves around the human body and its relation with time and the environment. The environment around us, be it material or immaterial determines this existential mode of being by means of our perception of a particular situation and our reaction to it. Preconceived notions and feelings towards specific objects or state, time and movement readdress our subjective reality.”

With this upcoming exhibition hinterland would like to start an artistic discussion on the one resource which has such an enormous impact on our economic cycle we are all benefitting from: OIL. Although we are aware of the environmental problems of this substance, we continue building pipelines and inventing further economic systems to be able to extract affordable petrol. When an incident happens where oil spreads over our landscapes, seas and wildlife miserably die, only then we pause briefly and realize the negative impact of this product.
